Ferrari unleashes the barely-there SF90 XX on the streets, and it’s already sold out

When we think of a Ferrari XX our minds immediately go to the Enzo FXX supercar or, more recently, the eardrum-piercing 599XX track special of a front-engined V12 design. We often forget about the latest Ferrari LaFerrari FXX K Evo, whose overall design was so track-focused that it hardly resembled the car it was based on. Understanding this connection between road and track, Ferrari has unveiled the SF90 XX Stradale and Spider – The first road-legal vehicles with the XX designation – It is limited to 799 and 599 examples, respectively.

Power figures may only be more than 30 CV (1,030 CV) over the SF90 Stradale. However, the internal components of the mid-rear-mounted V8 turbocharged engine have been changed, with polished intake and exhaust pipes, and a higher compression ratio with new pistons and combustion chamber shaping.

All of this is managed through new software logic and increased aerodynamics, including a fixed rear spoiler that helps double the standard car’s maximum downforce.

The SF90 XX sounds better, too, with the redesigned tube from the completed intake hall now closer to the bulkhead for increased harmonics and the resonator now closer to the driver for richer midrange and sharper bass at higher RPMs. Utilizing the Ferrari Daytona SP3’s patented gearbox logic, the SF90 XX also brings an overtaking crackle and explosion on takeoff at mid/high revs.

The acceleration figures are phenomenal, with a 0-100 km/h time of 2.3 seconds and a 0-200 km/h time of 6.5 seconds. The SF90 Stradale was a missile, but the SF90 XX looks like it would be a league above.

At the rear of the car you’ll now find a fixed spoiler – the first to appear on the road since the F50 days – and a spoiler that delivers up to 530kg of downforce at 250km/h. Interestingly, it works in conjunction with the active rear spoiler that sits above the dual exhaust integrated into the trimaran tailpipe design. The position from behind is exceptional, only enhanced by the numerous air vents around the body.

Inside, the sound is further enhanced by the lack of carpeting and leather. They have been replaced by technical fabrics and carbon fiber around the functional areas, for example, the upper dashboard is finished in Alcantara, while the lower part is trimmed in cloth. The seat is a notable addition to the interior in our eyes, with a visible carbon fiber tubular structure that looks like a firm bucket seat, but actually contains elastic material to hide the separation between the backrest and seat cushion. It saves 1.3 kg in weight compared to the SF90 Stradale one-piece seat.

Ferrari will only produce the 799 Stradale and 599 Spider, respectively. price? That’s nothing to say in the world of supercars, especially when all SF90 XX models are dedicated to their esteemed owners, but if you had to ask the SF90 XX costs about $844,000 for the coupe, and $932,000 for the spider. We don’t expect owners to lose a penny on their purchase.
