In her apology, Mars said she had revised the language in the ad.
“Mars Wrigley respects China’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity and conducts its business operations in strict compliance with local Chinese laws and regulations,” the apology said.
Mars Wrigley did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox Business.
China considers self-governing Taiwan its territory and has raised the possibility of its annexation by force. The United States maintains informal and defense relations with Taiwan even as it recognizes Beijing as the Chinese government.
