Helldivers 2 features an all-new cover presented to players in memory of their fallen comrades, as well as an accompanying “Malevelon Creek Day of Remembrance” to commemorate those lost in the battle to take over the infamous planet.
“Fallen Hero's Vengeance” is a new cape that debuted in Helldivers 2 today, April 3. It's all to celebrate those lost in the struggle to liberate Malevelon Creek, one of the most contested and hated planets in the entire game. It's not called “Robot Vietnam” for nothing, you know.
You can see the new head right below, in an accompanying announcement from the Super Earth head. I'd never really thought about how Super Earth was ruled before, but it makes perfect sense for a fascist video game sim to have a single totalitarian authority figure at its head.
Presidential Decree: The President of Super Earth officially recognized this day as Malevelon Creek Memorial Day. This week, in remembrance, all Helldivers will be issued a special commemorative cloak, so that they can carry the memory of their fallen comrades into battle. pic.twitter.com/y5ai4GXxo7April 3, 2024
From now on, April 3 will be known as “Maliflon Creek Memorial Day,” the Super Earth chief decreed. Furthermore, in-game text reveals that all citizens of Super Earth will unite in silence for three minutes to remember the fallen heroes at Malevelon Creek on April 3 of each year, but this will always occur during their lunch break.
Somewhat unfortunately, the special robe does not have any in-game rewards for Helldivers 2 players who equip it. It's purely a cosmetic item, and doesn't even have any distinct stat bonuses for players in the armor rating, speed, or stamina regeneration categories.
In less-than-great news, Helldivers 2 players are unhappy with the Slugger's weapon nerf, which they described as “completely unwarranted” – although the developer took the time to explain why the nerf occurred. What's more, the robots are upping their game with Helldivers 2's monster gunships.
