Germany without clear support for Ukraine. Scholes and Pistorius buried their heads in the sand

The German politician confirmed that it was a mistake to deprive Ukraine of the opportunity to join NATO in 2008.

What happened in Bucharest in 2008 was the worst thing that could happen to Ukraine. On the one hand, NATO’s door was opened to Ukraine, which Putin could perceive as a provocation. On the other hand, nothing has been done to protect Ukraine from Russia as it moves closer to this goal. (…) This is actually a cardinal mistake

– emphasized the politician.

“Unfortunately, Germany once again…”

Currently, Ukrainian politicians, led by President Zelensky, have clearly and openly announced their desire to join the coalition. “They also say that this is a post-war issue. I agree with this position,” Rodgen said.

Asked whether Putin would consider Ukraine’s accession to NATO a provocation, Rotgen said: “It is not known what the political situation in Russia will be, whether Putin will continue to be in power.” “However, I believe there is a fundamental mistake here to take a step back: Russia does not have the right to determine the policy of its neighbors, including whether one of these countries should join a security alliance altogether.– he said.

In my opinion, there is only one obstacle to another war: Ukraine’s membership in NATO. Less than NATO membership would leave Ukraine in a zone of security uncertainty and increase the likelihood of another invasion.

He explained.

Roettgen confirmed that while President Olaf Scholz and Defense Minister Boris Pistorius have repeatedly said that Ukraine’s NATO membership is not currently under discussion, “they don’t want to talk about it.” “Unfortunately, Germany is once again one of the NATO countries that does not provide critical and viable support to Ukraine,” Rotgen said.

Deliberate action in arms distribution?

Regarding the delivery of weapons and other goods to Ukraine, Germany “lacks political decisions, and the competence of the Ministry of Internal Security” is not used. “It is not so much gross negligence as it is intentional– said the politician.

The German government’s decision to send tanks to Ukraine is a change of course that has come too late. “It could have happened in June 2022, not January 2023. It will help Ukraine a lot. That is certainly a change of course by the Americans. (…) US President Joe Biden later decided that the US should still deliver Abrams tanks to Ukraine. Thus he left the Principal without any means of escape. It’s a really sad story,” Rodgen concluded.
