The Russians are onto something. They are assembling Su-30 fighter jets at a base in Crimea

A large concentration of Russian weapons, including approximately 10 Su-30 fighter jets, was found at Sagi Airport on the occupied Crimean Peninsula. It is one of the most dangerous flying machines used by Putin's military.

Russian Su-30 fighter jets at Sagi Airport

“During the reconnaissance, the presence of about 10 Su-30 fighter jets was recorded, which emphasizes the importance of the airport as a base for planning air operations, as well as anti-aircraft systems and the Gusta-2E2 radar, which indicates a high level of security” – he wrote in a message published on Telegram. It is noteworthy that more detailed information was provided to the armed forces of Ukraine.

The guerillas recalled that Sagi Airport was one of the most strategically important locations. Most of the missiles from Russian warplanes attacking Ukraine are launched from this location. In September last year, the Ukrainians successfully attacked Sagi Airport. The British Ministry of Defense said at the time that this was a demonstration of the ineffectiveness of Russian air defenses in ensuring the safety of key facilities.

Putin's Superplanes

However, at present, the security of key points in Crimea, including Sagi Airport, is much improved. The presence of a large number of Su-30s may confirm this, since they are the most valuable fighters for the Russians, sometimes referred to as the pride of their aircraft and Putin's superplane.

The maximum speed that the Su-30 can achieve is approximately Mach 1.8 (2,000 km/h), the aircraft can operate at an altitude of 17.5 km. As standard, the Russians install a 30 mm GSz-30-1 anti-aircraft cannon, but the machine can also carry additional, heavier weapons to combat air and ground targets.
