The NFL has announced that Atlanta is the host city for the AFC Championship Buffalo bills They meet the Kansas City Chiefs in the conference title game.

Previously, NFL owners approved an unprecedented postseason plan to host a game at a neutral site after canceling the Bills’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 2.

The match was initially suspended and then postponed after Damar Hamlin collapsed, suffering from a knee injury Cardiac arrest.

The postseason scenario was set up due to the Bills playing one game fewer than the Chiefs and not having a fair chance of securing the AFC’s top seed.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta will host the match if the two teams meet.

“We are encouraged by the continued improvement and progress that Damar Hamlin has made in his recovery, and Damar and his family continue to be the top concern of the entire NFL community,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Thursday.

“We are also grateful to Arthur Blank and the Atlanta Falcons for agreeing to host the AFC Championship game in Atlanta should the Bills and Chiefs advance. We thank both clubs for their assistance with the planning process.”

The NFL said Thursday that the league has designated Atlanta as a potential host site for displaced postseason games before the season begins.

The NFL noted that Atlanta is “nearly equidistant from the cities of potential participating teams”.
