NHL releases 2022-23 regular season schedule

The New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning will play the first game of the season’s inaugural double championship televised on ESPN in the US on October 11, and the Colorado Avalanche will hold a Stanley Cup banner raising ceremony to highlight another double header on TNT in the US at October 12 when the 2022-23 NHL season opens in North America.

The NHL released its 1,312-game schedule, 82 per team, on Wednesday.

The NHL previously announced that the Nashville Predators and San Jose Sharks will begin their regular season with two games in the 2022 NHL Global Series at the O2 Arena in Prague on October 7 and 8 (each at 2 p.m. ET). These will be the first NHL matches in Europe since 2019, after a two-season hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The World Series also includes two games between Avalanche and the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland, on November 4 and 5.

He will visit the Lightning Rangers at Madison Square Garden (7:30 p.m. ET) in the rematch of the 2022 Eastern Conference Final, which Tampa Bay has won in six games, before visiting the Vegas Golden Knights Kings LA at the Crypto.com Arena (10 p.m. Eastern time). The Boston Bruins will face the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena on October 12 (7 p.m. ET) before an avalanche hoists the third championship banner (Colorado also won the Cup in 1996 and 2001) and hosts the Chicago Blackhawks at Ball Arena (9): 30 p.m. ET).

The October 12 roster also has a double header on Sportsnet in Canada with the Toronto Maple Leafs visiting the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Center (7pm ET), followed by the Vancouver Canucks versus Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place in Edmonton (10pm ET).

Other highlights of the 2022-23 schedule include:

*The 2022 NHL Thanksgiving Showdown double-header on TNT on November 25 with the Pittsburgh Penguins visiting the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Arena (5pm ET) and Lightning hosting St. Louis Blues at Amalie Arena (7:30pm ET).

*2023 spot the NHL Winter Classic between the Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins at Fenway Park in Boston, home of the Boston Red Sox, on Jan. 2 (2 p.m. ET).

* Canada Hockey Day, with all seven Canadian teams on January 21.

*The Florida Panthers will host the 2023 NHL All-Star Weekend at the FLA Live Arena, which includes 2023 NHL All-Star Skills on February 3 and 2023 Honda NHL All-Star Game on February 4.

* Replay of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final when Avalanche visits Lightning at Amalie Arena on February 9 (7 p.m. ET). Tampa Bay faces Colorado at Paul Arena on February 14 (9 p.m. ET).

*The 2023 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Capitals at Carter Finley Stadium on the North Carolina State University campus in Raleigh, North Carolina on February 18 (8 p.m. ET).

Each of the 32 teams plays three or four matches against the other seven teams in its league, three matches against the eight teams in the other division in its conference and two matches against 16 teams from the other conference.

The regular season ends with 15 games on April 13.
