Largest gold heist in Canadian history. Police nabbed the culprits

Nine people charged in the theft include: An Air Canada employee and police representatives said during a press conference that the involvement of employees of the Canadian airline enabled the biggest gold heist in Canadian history. One of the accused has been arrested in the US, while three others are still wanted and arrest warrants have been issued for them.

6,600 gold bars disappeared from the airport

On April 17 last year, 6,600 gold bars worth approximately CAD 20 million (Canadian dollars – ed.) and approximately CAD 2.5 million in cash in various currencies went missing from an Air Canada warehouse. This transport arrived earlier from Zurich. The company responsible for onward transport into Canada realized the theft when its employee arrived at the airport to collect the gold. Air Canada employees tried to find the container containing the gold and alerted the police at 3 a.m. the next morning.
