The talks between NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Italian Defense Minister Guido Croceto will be of key importance in this context. Stoltenberg should arrive in Rome in the coming days.
Ukraine asks Italy for air defense systems
According to Il Messaggero, last week Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba asked Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani for SAMP-T air defense systems. In this regard, the Ministry of Defense in Rome said that Italy has very few such systems at its disposal.
At the same time, the newspaper reports that Italy has not completed the fourth and fifth packages of military support for Ukraine. Their specific content remains secret, however, according to unofficial information, the latest deliveries include heavy armored vehicles and large-scale artillery, notably “20 to 30” M109 self-propelled howitzers.
Earlier, “La Repubblica” newspaper reported that a new mandate for military aid to Ukraine could be adopted in mid-November.
