A college comedy series starring Steve Carell has received a 10-episode straight-to-series order from HBO. The half-hour single-camera project comes from veteran comedy writer and producer Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso(And Tarses died)Goldberg) and Warners Bros. Television as Lawrence’s Doozer and Tarses banner are under overall deals.
Written by Lawrence and Tarses – they meet after working together on Lawrence’s medical comedy ScrubsThe untitled comedy is set on a college campus and centers around the author’s (Caryl) complicated relationship with his daughter.
Carell and Tarsis executive produce alongside Lawrence, Jeff Ingold and Lisa Katzer of Doozer Productions. The series is produced by Doozer in association with Warner Bros. Television.

HBO is looking to replenish the ranks of its comedy series after taking down the juggernaut Barry And Curb your enthusiasm.
