The media reported that the helicopters were temporarily refurbished and were not being used by Russian troops.

The explosion or multiple explosions were to happen Sunday evening at the site near Pskov. The unit’s service technicians heard several powerful explosions and later saw the scattered wreckage of two helicopters. The explosion was so powerful that debris was found 200 meters away.
