ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky, as of Monday, worked with interim Colts coach Jeff Saturday. Orlovsky will probably work with Saturday again.

Tuesday afternoon edition of Dan Patrick ShowOrlovsky has not ruled out joining the coaching staff on Saturday in Indianapolis.

In his initial notes on the subject, it became clear that Monday’s horseshoe surprise wasn’t a thunderbolt out of the blue.

“My initial thinking was ‘cool,’ and then — I work with Jeff two days a week and talk to him constantly, and my mind went back to all the conversations we’ve had with him over the past, like, six weeks,” Orlovsky said. “And right now, I didn’t put two and two together. But as yesterday unfolded, I was like, ‘Oh, Now everything makes senseYou know, we had these really detailed conversations about what was happening in the NFL, you know, teams that were doing things well, teams that weren’t doing things well. The scheme, the philosophy, the identity, the training, all That stuff. And you know, when the news broke, it made a lot more sense of why and how we had those conversations.”

Orlovsky, who played for the Colts in 2011, was asked if on Saturday the former NFL quarterback was offered a job as quarterback coach.

“Not directly, no,” Orlovsky said.

Then Dan Patrick asked Dan Orlovsky what that meant.

“Jeff and I had conversations about coaching,” Orlovsky said. “We had some really good, in-depth conversations about what training is like. Who are the good guys and who are the bad. My level of interest in it. Where am I at the moment. That’s when I look back and say, ‘Aha’. You know, for example, I think it was It gathers a kind of sense and information without revealing some of the things that were going on behind the scenes.”

Orlovsky added that he and Saturday exchanged texts on Monday, that they had decided to “call the base later,” and that Saturday “didn’t give me anything directly, no.”

Then Dan Patrick asked if Orlovsky would push for a job on the Saturday crew.

“No, I wouldn’t want to push,” Orlovsky said. “I made myself very clear to Jeff, I want to train one day. I am very interested in him. Honestly, as the days go by, your interest in her increases. I miss this part of football.”

He probably won’t miss it for long.
