Christian McCaffrey details the hilarious facial hair race against Brock Purdy – NBC Sports Bay Area and California

While leading the 49ers’ offense to the top of the NFL’s statistical leaderboards, Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey are also in contention for the league’s Most Valuable Player award.

However, there is another race in which the star can compete.

On the “Let’s go!” Podcast Along with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray, McCaffrey was recently asked who could grow a “playoff beard” faster between him and Purdy.

“I don’t know if it’s Brock [Purdy] He ever had a tuft of hair sticking out of his face. “I think he’s still in his adulthood,” McCaffrey explained. “If you want to talk about the positive potential of someone, I mean they’ve just hit puberty. They’ll be here for the next 20 years at this rate.”

McCaffrey has not backed down from a quarterback in his second year who is only 23 years old. But the All-Pro admitted his failings when it came to facial hair growth and contact.

“I can grow it,” McCaffrey said. “It looks terrible because I can’t communicate with a drinker. So, I ended up getting Narnia and with the chin strap, I ended up looking like an idiot.

Purdy discussed the topic back in February and embraced jokes about his baby face.

“Man, I know that. All my teammates are like, ‘Dude, when did you get your driver’s license, when you got here?'” Purdy laughed. “And I’m like, ‘Guys, come on.’ But no, I shave every other day, but guys don’t believe it.

“But it’s all good.”

The 49ers share the NFL’s best 11-3 record with the Baltimore Ravens, whom they will face in a potential Super Bowl preview on Christmas Day. San Francisco will certainly be counting on Purdy and McCaffrey to continue their dominance in Week 16 at Levi’s Stadium.

While the 49ers have a sixth Vince Lombardi Trophy on their minds, the facial hair race in the 49ers’ backfield is clearly just as important.
