Woodinville Mayor Mike Millman doesn’t expect to lose the place in its current form. However, he told KIRO 7 it might look different.
“I know that Chateau St. Michele is actually hoping to maintain her presence in Woodinville,” Millman said. “I will work hard to make sure that happens.”
According to the mayor, 70 acres of the property have been set aside for residential use. The other 48 can be used for industrial or tourist purposes such as wineries, breweries or hotels.
Adam Acampora is the CEO of Woodinville Wine Country, a non-profit company that promotes the area as a destination for wine tourism. Acampora argues that wine lovers don’t need to panic just yet.
“Honestly, I don’t even know what their plan is,” Akampura said. “They can speculate on the value of the land; they can look at reorganizing the cash flow. Who knows?”
