The cause of the accident may have been the pilot’s intentional action

“The plane did what someone in the cockpit said,” someone familiar with the initial assessment of U.S. officials, who had no full evidence, was quoted in the press. He recalls that while the Boeing 737-800 was flying at high altitude it suddenly started to descend almost vertically and fell down.

“The Chinese Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC), staff and air traffic controllers did not signal anything unusual before the plane landed,” the WSJ said.

According to a newspaper informant, the hack by someone in the cockpit may have been deliberately catastrophic, but China Eastern considers it impossible. Authorities in Beijing have not yet reported any mechanical or aircraft control problems. The crashed Boeing model is one of the best safety records in commercial aviation.
