2023 NFL Draft: Predicted the Detroit Lions’ sixth overall pick

We did it! The offseason has been very exciting for the Detroit Lions already, but it’s time to take this roster to the next level with the 2023 NFL Draft. The Lions are armed with plenty of draft capital, including several first rounds, but it all starts with the selection made. ranked sixth overall.

Lions general manager Brad Holmes could go in a number of directions with his valuable pick near the top of the draft. The Lions are unlikely to take a quarterback (although I think there is nothing quite off the table), but with so many signal-callers expected around them, it makes it difficult to know which players will be on the plate when they arrive. .

Today’s question is:

Who will take Black in sixth place?

my answer: Even with the offseason acquisitions, it always seemed like a situation that would address Holmes in a big way this draft. Jeff Okudah’s trade somewhat increases that need, but even without this trade my answer here would be the same. While there are some defensive linemen available at six that could also make a huge impact, the Lions need to do the smart thing and grab the corner.

If they make this decision, it comes down to two options. Devon Witherspoon is an amazing talent who should have a solid NFL career, but I would expect Detroit to end up with Christian Gonzalez. The Oregon defensive back has size, speed, and athleticism and could be a game-changer for the Lions for years to come.

Your turn.
