The Flash director gives Ezra Miller an update: ‘They’re taking steps to recover’

Andrés Muschietti, the director behind the upcoming DC movie The Flash, believes in Ezra Miller despite their many differences.

Muschietti knows Miller has been making headlines for a while now, but maintains that Miller’s work on The Flash has been great. According to Muschietti, Miller, using their pronouns, is an “extraordinary actor”.

“It was probably one of my best experiences working with an actor ever,” Muschietti said during a recent Q&A with the press. “they are great. [Their] Contributions are constant, and they also like to do a lot of what I do, which is a lot.”

He continued, “They are filled with incredible emotion, and they bring it to the set every time. [They] He’s a great comedian as well, something I wasn’t quite ready for. I mean, you’ve seen them in movies before. I thought they were funny, but when I started working with them I realized they were great comedians.”

The Flash is set to hit theaters June 16, and first looks from this year’s CinemaCon brought more positive reviews of the film despite Miller’s controversy. The newly released trailer gave viewers a deeper look at DC’s next daring swing, which will see Michael Keaton’s Batman return. The movie will reportedly follow Barry Allen, AKA The Flash, as he travels back in time to save his parents. Messing with time is hard, and it turns out that Barry’s actions have caused an incredible mess.

The trailer also shows how there will be two different versions of Barry, which is a choice Muschietti expanded on. He also praised Miller’s ability to catch both Barrys effectively.

“The fact that they were playing two versions of the same character, two completely opposite versions,” said Muschietti. “The Barry we all know is neurotic, restless, full of hardships, childhood traumas etc. And Barry is basically none of that, and he’s totally relaxed. It was a very fun challenge to explore these two characters for him, for Ezra, for me. It was so much fun.”

Miller’s past behavior has been a topic of great concern lately, as the actor has been involved in several unsavory stories. They were accused of throwing a chair at a woman, of grooming the palace, and of hiding for some time while all this was going on. They also had a series of legal cases in Hawaii, Massachusetts, and North Dakota.

Warner Bros. considered. Discover briefly parted ways with Miller over their actions, but the star has since apologized. They said they had “complex psychological problems” and promised to undergo treatment. They also met with WB executives in August of last year to apologize for bringing negative attention to The Flash.

With all of that in mind, Muschietti provided an update on Miller’s current status.

“Ezra is fine now,” said the manager. “We all hope they get better. They are taking steps to recover. [They’re] Dealing with mental health issues, however [they’re] Good. We spoke to them not long ago, and they are very committed to getting better.”
