List of places with rules on visitors from China as the spread of COVID-19 increases

Authorities around the world are imposing or considering restrictions on travelers from China as Covid-19 cases increase in the country following its spread. Relaxing ‘zero covid’ rules.

They cite a Lack of information from China On variants and concerned about the wave of infection. China has rejected criticism of the Covid data and said it expects future mutations to be more transmissible but less severe.

Below is a list of the regulations for travelers from China.

Places of restrictions

United State

The United States will impose Mandatory Covid-19 tests on travelers from China Starting January 5th. All aircraft passengers aged two years and over will be required to obtain a negative result from a test no more than two days prior to departure from China, Hong Kong or Macau. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also said US citizens should reconsider travel to China, Hong Kong and Macau.

Britain

Britain’s health department said on Friday that the UK will require a negative pre-departure Covid-19 test from passengers from China from January 5.

France

France will require travelers from China to present a negative Covid test result less than 48 hours before departure, the health and transport ministries said on Friday.

A government official told reporters that, starting January 1, France will conduct random PCR Covid tests on the arrival of some travelers arriving from China.

Australia

Australian Health Minister Mark Butler said on Sunday that travelers from China to Australia will need to present a negative COVID-19 test from January 5, joining other countries that have implemented similar restrictions as cases surge in China.

India

The health minister said the country has requested the negative Covid-19 test report for travelers arriving from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Thailand. Passengers from those countries will be placed in quarantine if they develop symptoms or test positive.

Canada

Ottawa said on Saturday that air travelers from China to Canada must test negative for Covid-19 at least two days before departure, joining other countries that have implemented such restrictions.

Japan

Italia

Italy has required Covid-19 antigen swabs and virus sequences for all travelers from China. Milan’s main airport, Malpensa, has already started testing travelers arriving from Beijing and Shanghai. “This measure is necessary to ensure monitoring and detection of possible variants of the virus in order to protect the Italian population,” said Health Minister Orazio Schillacci.

Spain

Malaysia

Minister Zuleha Mustafa said in a statement that Malaysia will screen all inbound travelers for fever and will test sewage from planes arriving from China for Covid-19.

Taiwan

Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command said all passengers on direct flights from China, as well as on a boat on two coastal islands, will have to take PCR tests upon arrival, starting January 1.

South Korea

South Korean news agency News1 reported on Friday that South Korea will require travelers from China to submit negative Covid test results before departure.

Morocco, West, sunset

The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, on Saturday, that Morocco will impose a ban on arrivals from China, whatever their nationality, as of January 3, to avoid any new wave of coronavirus infections.

Places of monitoring the situation

Filipino

The Manila Department of Health said on Saturday that the Philippines sees the need to step up surveillance and implement border controls for incoming individuals, especially from China, which is seeing a record rise in Covid-19 cases.
