New Twitter chief Elon Musk apologized on Sunday for the microblogging site being “too slow” in many countries. His apology came minutes after he said, “Twitter feels more alive.”

“By the way, I would like to apologize for the slowness of Twitter in many countries. The app is making over 1,000 poorly paid RPCs just to serve up a home timeline,” Musk said in a tweet.

He also announced an upcoming feature where the spread of fake accounts using the verified blue tick forced the company to suspend the $8 Twitter Blue program.

In another tweet, he said, “Twitter will be rolling out soon, and will enable organizations to identify other Twitter accounts already associated with them.”

The blue tick was previously reserved for verified accounts only of famous personalities, politicians, journalists and public figures. But Twitter opened a subscription program last week that allowed anyone to get it for $8 a month.

This led to a major hurdle for the company as many users impersonated major brands on the site. The show was suspended last Friday, but Musk said he would likely be back by “the end of next week.”

Twitter also provided an “official” designation for the selected accounts, but they suddenly disappeared hours later.
