Lankans in Jeddah to remain under the bridge

Sri Lanka embassy officials in Saudi Arabia say that nothing can be done about the plight of the over 200 Sri Lankan migrant workers living under the Kandara Bridge in Sharafiya until the 2nd of December in light of the fact that all government institutions in Saudi have been closed for the Haj holidays.

Deputy General Manger of the Foreign Employment Bureau in Sri Lanka L.K Ruhunage speaking to Daily Mirror online said that a team of officials from the island including the Deputy Foreign Minster Hussein Bhaila had flown to Jeddah for discussions with officials there on the situation of the large number of Sri Lankan migrants living under the bridge, but said that they had been informed that nothing could be done until the 2nd of December because of the nationwide holiday granted for the Haj festival.
