Dilantha Malagamuwa, arguably the most renowned racing driver ever produced by Sri Lanka, took Aston Martin Asia Cup by storm when he clinched the first place of both Rounds III and IV.
Though Malagamuwa couldn’t take the test sessions due to a mechanical problem he managed to take pole position. Round 3 was a piece of cake for the veteran driver who even slowed down a bit when he felt that he got hardly any competition against him. Tunku Hammam of Malaysia finished 2nd and Melvin Choo was 3rd.
Round 4 was pretty much the same as Malagamuwa got hardly any competition. He capitalised on the good and pulled away but didn’t slow down too much as he wanted to know the gap he could have with the first runner up by the end of the race. He managed to clinch the first place and maintained a 15 second gap with the second placed Melvin Choo. Marc Merlin of France finished 3rd. In the overall tally Malagamuwa is in the box seat with a big margin and hopes to win the championship convincingly.
