VAVUNIYA: Acting on a tip - off troops of 21 Div. conducted a search operation in VAVUNIYA, VARIKOTTUR ,POMPEMADU area around 2.00 pm yesterday (28). They observed two suspicious persons, and ordered them to stop. Then they  had begun running, and troops had fired at them subsequently in order to stop them from fleeing.
 
One suspect was injured and the other escaped. When soldiers were approaching the injured person, he had blasted himself by activating the suicide jacket. The soldiers escaped unhurt. The troops are continuing further search operation to apprehend the suspect who escaped.
